I am certified in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International. The term "perinatal" encompasses the period of time from pregnancy through postpartum. I support parents in healing from mood and anxiety disorders, such as depression, anxiety, or trauma, that may present during the perinatal period. This also includes any parent struggling with infertility or loss.
The transition into parenthood can be full of new adjustments, some of which you may have expected and some of which may have caught you completely off guard. Some of these adjustments might include identity shifts, changes or conflicts in relationships, difficulty bonding with your baby, feeding challenges you did not anticipate, and navigating the endless stream of advice from loved ones, the internet, or social media. You may be experiencing intense emotions you did not expect such as rage, irritability, sadness, loneliness, anxiety or fear.
If any of this feels familiar, please know you are not alone and you deserve support. With my training and experience, I will work with you to help you develop the tools you may need to move through this transition in an empathetic and nonjudgmental space.
I am trained in the evidence based practice, Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). This is a play-based and attachment focused treatment model for young children (ages birth to five) who have experienced a traumatic or stressful event. The goal of this form of treatment is to improve healing for both the parent and child by strengthening their relationship and attachment.
With my specialization and training in early childhood mental health, I aim to help parents access the tools they need to foster secure relationships and attachment to their young children. Perhaps you are having a difficult time bonding with your newborn, or maybe you are struggling to remain calm and regulated in the face of big toddler emotions. Whatever challenges in parenting you may be facing, I seek to provide grounding support, research backed interventions, and a safe space for you to feel more confident in your role as a parent and in your relationship with your child.
